Flyfishmagazine.com’s Holiday Gift Guide: 2006

Here at Flyfishmagazine.com we are lucky to have a great group of contributing editors.  They might not be icons of the sport or celebrities but they are anglers who spend a lot of their time on the water fishing and a little of their time writing about it for us.  This year we have asked our staff to scour the internet and come up with a few choice gift ideas for those of you shopping for the fly angler in your life.  Here is what they managed to come up with.  **

JPWhen we met Jeff Paisley he was selling fly fishing gear out of the trunk of his car. Needless to say we bought some and have been friends and fishing buddies ever since.  Jeff is considered Flyfishmagazine.com’s tail water expert and calls the Watauga and South Holston Rivers in East Tennessee his home waters.  Here are some of Paisley’s Picks:

Simms Guide Stockingfoot Waders Retail: $329 (However check your local fly shop as there have been recent sightings of this product at lower prices in shops and on the net).

Jeff likes these because they are made from breathable Gortex and have a lifetime warranty

William Joseph Mini Chest Fishing Pack

       Retail $49.95 Sale Price 29.99

This chest pack from William Joseph is perfect for times when you don’t need to carry everything you own fishing with you. The built in work station / ripple foam fly patch will securely hold and give easy access to a large number of those valuable fishing flies.  Available from Sierra Trading Post.

NRS Hydroskin Long Sleeve Shirt Retail: $87

You might consider neoprene shirts to be the domain of white water kayakers, but if you fish during the frigid winter months you might just find the added warmth and water resistance of this wet suit like shirt to be a big help when it comes to staying in the field just a bit longer. Available at Altrec.
